Quests in Epstein Island Game: All Twelve with Their Rewards
Twelve side quests sit in the prototype, and none of them send you across the island without asking you to bring something back. Most are routes you walk anyway, just with a counter attached.
Here are all twelve: what they ask for, where they lead, who hands them out, and which of the four rewards comes out at the end.
Quests in Epstein Island Game: accept, complete, come back
The island does not hand you a task list. You pick quests up along the way, from people who need something, and manage them yourself from there.
It all runs through the Quests app on the phone: accept, complete on the way, come back. Progress is saved, so you do not start over after a break. Every entry shows a title, a task, a counter, a location, and a reward, and four of the twelve carry a name above them.
The counters are worded differently depending on the quest type. Visit once, two empty cans, four targets, one refill: whatever counts is written right there on the quest card.
Four types, twelve quests
The game knows exactly four quest types, and they are not evenly split. Six quests send you to a location, three have you fill up water, two have you collect cans, and one asks for hits on target.
A location only appears in the data for the six visit quests. Collecting, fetching water, and hitting targets are all tied to an action rather than a pin on the map, so you can knock them out along the way without a detour.
Only four destinations come up at all: the village, the training grounds, Shelter Cave, and the freshwater barrel. That last one is the only quest location that is not among the nine pins on the phone map, it sits at the dock.
- Visit: six quests, the goal is a single trip there
- Fetch water: three quests, counted in refills at the freshwater barrel
- Collect: two quests, counted in empty cans
- Hit targets: one quest, counted in different targets hit
Six routes you walk anyway
Two quests lead to the village. A Trip to the Village just asks for the visit and the report afterward, and pays a burger. Get Your Bearings in the Village comes from Jonas the scout, wants the same visit but specifically by way of the island paths, and pays an empty cola can.
Two more lead to the training grounds. The quest with that exact title asks you to find the spot, and its description makes clear you do not need to fire a single shot for it; the reward is an empty cola can. Fact-Check at the Training Grounds sends you there to take a look and come back with your report for the debrief, and pays a can of water.
The last two are the most useful for your first evening. The Way to Water leads to the freshwater barrel at the dock and pays a full can. Shelter for the Night comes from Samir the ranger, sends you to Shelter Cave and then back to him, and the burger at the end is time well spent.
Fetching water and collecting cans: the island's loop
All three water quests hang off the freshwater barrel. Water for the Evening wants one refill and pays a burger, Prepare Drinking Water comes from Nora the paramedic and pays a can of water, and Two Rounds of Fresh Water asks for two refills and pays More syrup. In all three cases you keep the water you fill up.
The two collection quests both revolve around empty cans. Reuse Some Cans wants two of them and pays a can of water, Reusable Material wants three for Ava the mechanic and pays More syrup. Here too the cans stay with you afterward.
Together the five form a small loop: find an empty can, fill it at the barrel, drink, put the empty can back in your stock. Take both collection quests at once and the same cans cover both counters.
TipFor the water quests, only what you fill after accepting counts. For the collection quests, cans you already have count too.
The only quest that needs a weapon
Four Different Targets is the only quest of the hit-targets type. It asks for hits on four different targets at the training grounds, not four hits total, and it pays More syrup.
Since four weapons sit ready right at the training grounds, you do not need a stash from a cache for this one. Which weapon suits calm aiming and how much ammo it eats up is covered in the weapons guide.
The four rewards and how often each shows up
As different as the quests are, the payout list is narrow. There are exactly four rewards, and every quest pays out exactly one of them.
The can of water is the most common, with four quests. Burger and More syrup follow with three each, and the empty cola can shows up twice. That an empty can counts as a reward at all makes sense once you keep the two collection quests and the freshwater barrel in mind.
These four reward items are not listed in the game's item catalog, they sit in their own separate list. How much they reduce hunger and thirst is not documented anywhere, so it is left out here too.
Who hands out the quests
Four of the twelve quests carry a name: Ava the mechanic, Samir the ranger, Nora the paramedic, and Jonas the scout. These are exactly the four characters the game gives their own voice profile, which sets them apart in conversation too.
The other eight appear in the data without a named contact. On the website they are simply labeled island jobs. Who else you run into out on the island is covered in Characters and Residents.
Everything here reflects version 0.12.0. The game is a prototype, and quests and rewards can change with the next update.
